Avril Mangan: Bio
Avril obtained a Degree in Law from University of Wales (Portobello College) and holds a Masters in Law degree from Trinity College Dublin. During her Masters Avril focused on Alternative Dispute Resolution and Restitution and her thesis was entitled “Status of Fathers in Irish Law”. In 2010 Avril qualified as a mediator with a special emphasis on mediation of family disputes.
Avril has specialised experience in family law with over a decade of legal experience in the area and has dealt with cases at all Court levels from the District Court to the Supreme Court. Avril has been involved in many Lawyer Assisted Mediations guiding clients through the mediation process. She believes there are significant benefits to resolving family, marital and relationship disputes, through mediation particularly in relation to parenting and child issues. Avril has always been very aware of the needs of the “vulnerable client” and has a Certificate from the Law Society in Capacity, Mental Health and the Law.
In 2011 Avril decided to set-up her own law firm and established Mangan & Company Solicitors. The initial focus was family law and private client law. The Practice is now a dedicated and specialised family law practice. Avril has a family background of entrepreneurism and she is the fifth generation to set up her own business. In 2015 Avril was honoured to have won the Family Law Lawyer of the Year Award in the Irish Law Awards.
Avril was honoured again in 2016 when she was awarded by Irish Law Awards the award of Family Law Lawyer of the Year for the second year running. Avril has since been named as the Family Lawyer of the Year in Ireland by the international publication Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Awards 2016.
Avril is a member of the Family Law & Minors Committee of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association.
